With NFL teams returning to work, waiver wire activity is beginning to heat up as training camp is set to begin. Several more UFL players are beginning to have their names called by NFL franchises for the 2025 training camp. As of Friday Afternoon, the UFL has seen 14 players earn NFL contracts as the league hopes to surpass the 75 players who earned NFL opportunities in 2024. So far 28 players have worked out NFL during this signing cycle.

San Antonio Brahmas

After a lull of movement in San Antonio, the Brahmas were back on the wire with Derrick Langford who worked out for the Packers. Langford appeared in 7 games totaling 13 tackles, and 4 passes defended.

Arlington Renegades

Kyon Barrs reportedly worked out for the Cardinals, and Bengals this past week. Barrs joined the Renegades in December 2024, after spending time with the Seattle Seahawks in 2024. He totaled 24 Tackles, and 1.0 sack in his first season in the UFL. The Cardinals would sign Barrs Saturday evening.

Houston Roughnecks

Keenan Isaac received his second workout this cycle, working out with the Detroit Lions. Isaac was a draft pick by the Houston Gamblers in 2023 and spent his first season in spring football with the Roughnecks, the same staff that drafted him in the USFL.

Memphis Showboats

Jaylon Allen received his 2nd NFL workout in the NFL cycle. Allen worked out for the Cardinals late last week, after working out for the Patriots in June.

Michigan Panthers

The Panthers got on the board on July 16th, with Ryan Nelson signing with LA Chargers for his first NFL opportunity. Nelson has spent 3 seasons with the Panthers, after signing with the team as a free agent. Nelson, earn All-UFL honors in 2025 as the Panthers stalwart at Left Tackle. Running Back Toa Taua is also working out for the Detroit Lions this week. Taua was an afterthought getting released prior to the 2025 season, however injuries forced Michigan to resign him, placing him in the starting lineup. Taua led the team in rushing TDs despite only playing in 7 games this year. The Panthers also saw Keni-H Lovely a first-year defensive back work out for the Lions, in hopes of continuing the Panthers-Lions pipeline.

St. Louis Battlehawks

After a lull in workouts for the Battlehawks, Nick Whiteside worked out for the Carolina Panthers per UFL Analyst. Whiteside recorded 17 tackles and 3 PBUs with St. Louis this season, starting in 5 of 11 games played. The Battlehawks also saw All-UFL Center Mike Panasiuk receive a workout with the Cincinnati Bengals. Panasiuk has been All-League since 2023, and signed with the Colts in 2024.

D.C. Defenders

No players signed or worked out since last update.

Signing: Barry Wesley (Saints), Mario Goodrich (Broncos), Perrion Winfrey (Cowboys), Harrison Mevis (Jets)

UFL Notes:

While UFL to NFL workouts and signing have been quiet the Michigan Panthers and Houston Roughnecks have begun signing players for the 2026 season. The Panthers have signed 24 players for the season with Houston signing 14 so far. Worth noting as well, Garrett McGhin 2022 All-USFL selection, and 2023 XFL Champion for the Arlington Renegades has also retired, along with Holton Ahlers also retiring. Former AAF Quarterback Logan Woodside was also released on Sunday, in favor of Desmond Ridder. Woodside has spent the Six seasons with the Bengals, Falcons, and Titans since his tenure with the San Antonio Commanders.
