UFL to NFL signings were down this year, as well as player retention with only 14 of the 60 2025 signees being rostered whether it be on the active squad, practice squad, or injured reserve. Since 2019, currently 38 players from spring football leagues are rostered with NFL teams from the AAF, USFL, XFL, and UFL going into week one of the 2025 season.
While many players had their NFL dreams cut short on August 26th, one player Birmingham Stallions EDGE rusher Ronnie Perkins is getting another shot at extending his NFL career. Perkins is rejoining the Falcons practice squad after the team released him during final cuts. Perkins originally signed with Atlanta on the 18th of August appearing in one preseason game registering 3 tackles in his only appearance. He now joins his fourth NFL team since coming out of Oklahoma in 2021.

Perkins now joins Harrison Mevis, Barry Wesley, and Perrion Winfrey on NFL payrolls. The Stallions as a franchise have seen 40 players sign NFL contracts as the franchise was rebooted in 2022. While Birmingham continues to succeed on the field the franchise continues to replace quality NFL talent, and reload with players like Mevis, Perkins, and Winfrey all being first year spring football players. Perkins signing with Atlanta also show how certain NFL franchises are committed to the UFL, as the Falcons have signed 21 spring football players since 2022.
