Another UFL Defensive Lineman is getting a shot, with San Antonio Brahmas EDGE Garrett Nelson signing with the New Orleans Saints practice squad. Nelson recently was cut by the Denver Broncos after spending training camp with the team and now has the opportunity to rebound with the Saints.

After coming out of Nebraska in 2023 Nelson spent training camp with the Dolphins, and eventually signing with the Bengals practice squad for about three weeks. Nelson would join the UFL’s San Antonio Brahmas in January of 2024 spending the past two seasons with the team registering 31 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 17 games for the team. Nelson would sign with the Broncos, however, was waived during final cuts.

Nelson is the 4th Defensive Lineman to be rostered from the 2025 UFL class. Next to specialist, Defensive Lineman from spring football leagues have earned over 41 million dollars from spring football players since 2019. Nelson will now have the opportunity to compete in hopes of finding a place on the 53-man roster with New Orleans if called upon.
