Despite the level of flux with the UFL going into 2026, talent players still remain active on the NFL waiver wire. Recently among the NFL workouts was Peter Bowden the “Michigan Panthers” long snapper working/visiting the Chargers who recently are dealing with a bit of flux at Long Snapper.

The Chargers recently saw long-time NFL veteran Rick Lovato suddenly retire after nine games and have recently activated incumbent Josh Harris from his 21-day practice window. With Harris’ status still in question, the Chargers signed Peter Bowden to their practice squad as an added insurance policy.

Bowden joined the Michigan Panthers after an injury to 2024 All-UFL Long Snapper Jordan Ober was placed on injured reserve. Bowden appeared in six games for Michigan, earning workouts with the Cardinals (7/21), Titans (7/30), and Seahawks (8/4). He’ll now join his third NFL team after spending time with Packers and Jaguars in 2024.

Bowden becomes the 62nd UFL player to earn an NFL contract his cycle. He is the first long snapper to earn a contract, hoping to join Mitch Fraboni (USFL Maulers), Tucker Addington (USFL Gamblers), and Rex Sunahara (UFL Brahmas) as spring football (2022-present) to appear in an NFL game.
