Southern University’s football staff continues to make waves with Head Coach Marshall Faulk now hiring another former NFL assistant and UFL coach. Faulk is now set to hire Battlehawks Running Backs Coach, and Special Teams Coordinator Kyle Caskey to join the staff as his offensive coordinator.
Caskey is the second member of the Battlehawks coaching staff to officially “move-on” from his position. Battlehawks offensive coordinator Phil McGeoghan is now the Head Coach of the ELF’s Berlin Thunder whose season runs similar to the UFL.
Caskey returns to college for the first time since 2009, where he was a Defensive Assistant with the Ole Miss Rebels under Houston Nutt. Caskey had spent 2010 to 2021 with various NFL teams before joining the Battlehawks in 2024, replacing Art Valero.
With the UFL coaching cycle in full swing between the hires of Ted Ginn Jr (Columbus Aviators), and A.J. McCarron (Birmingham Stallions) many UFL assistants and former employees have found themselves moving to the next steps in their career. Caskey will now take on a new challenge as he’ll be an offensive coordinator for the first time in his career.
