Hours after his teammate Jace Sternberger announced his retirement, C.J. Marable took to his social media to announce his plans for the future. After five seasons in professional football and four with the Stallions, Marable joins Sternberger in hanging up his cleats opting for retirement.
After coming out of Coastal Carolina in 2021, Marable signed with the Chicago Bears as a UDFA being released at the conclusion of training camp. Marable would be drafted by the Stallions in the 2022 USFL draft quickly becoming a mainstay for Birmingham during their dynasty earning three championships with the team.
Marable amassed 2,434 all-purpose yards and 15 touchdowns in 35 regular season games in addition to another 347 all-purpose yards and a touchdown in 7 post season games. Marable’s retirement (along with Sternberger) comes as the UFL transitions into a reallocation of players essentially discontinuing any continuity over the Stallions franchise over the past four seasons.
Marable had signed his letter of intent for the 2026 season, however with Skip Holtz opting to move on from the league. the 4 year Stallion decided against playing his 5th season. The UFL is set to begin their 2026 season on January 5th, with their quarterback allocation, with rosters looking to be finalized by January 14th.

It is funny how the UFL is a microcosm of the whole nation’s method of doing business. People work hard and do a great job. A new owner comes in, makes changes, some that may work, some that may not, but it always comes down to good management leaving, yes men staying and workers that have accomplished a great deal and built a great admiration for the work leaving. It doesn’t mean the new workers won’t find results, but are they as good or just better for what the new owner wants to create.
