As the UFL training camps open, Louisville Kings head coach Chris Redman answered media questions on Friday.

The hometown hero began by stating that he and his coaching staff are looking forward to working with players who are “hungry for an opportunity to play in the NFL and get back to that upper echelon. They’re going to do whatever it takes. Those are the kind of guys you want to coach.”

Explaining that this weekend, the team will focus on onboarding activities; undergoing physicals, issuing equipment, and conducting meetings before hitting the field on Monday, Redman plans to start slowly. Hoping to avoid early training camp injuries, he wants to make sure the players are prepared for the grueling toll of professional football practices.

Although Redman is a first-time head coach, he surrounded himself with experience. The Kings’ offensive coordinator, Steve Logan, has extensive experience at the collegiate and NFL coaching levels. Jamie Sharper brings spring football expertise as the defensive coordinator for the UFL 2025 Championship D.C. Defenders.

Stating their coaching experience will be invaluable, Redman explained, “We have a lot of coaching experience, playing experience, on both sides of the ball.” He continued,” I really enjoy our staff. We gel really good together.”

But the real advantage for Louisville is that Redman hired several former teammates from his 2001 Super Bowl-winning Baltimore Ravens team for the Kings’ coaching staff. When you’re trying to build a winning culture with an expansion team, that familiarity and the shared experience of reaching the sport’s ultimate summit together will form a brotherhood.

When asked about the challenge of playing the three-time Championship Birmingham Stallions in the Kings’ first game of the season, Redman was upbeat about facing A.J. McCarron and Birmingham.

“I think it’s great. When you start the season playing a team like that, you find out where your weaknesses are really fast. So, for us, this is an advantage. This is a long season, and we’re excited for the challenge of a big time. We’re the opening game for the whole season. All eyes are gonna be on us. That’s what we want. Louisville wanted the spotlight, well, here we are.”

Raving about Lynn Family Stadium, Redman described it as a terrific place to see a game. “It’s gonna be loud. There’s plenty of action. Fans are going to feel like they’re in the huddle.”

With Redman and his staff at the helm, the Kings are set up for a successful first season. Redman and his staff know exactly what it takes to achieve the ultimate reward, and they’re bringing that winning spirit to Louisville. He stated, “We’re all coming together for a common goal, and that’s to win a championship.”
