As the Battlehawks prepare for their 5th season of existence, the 2026 team goes into training camp under a new in Head Coach Ricky Proehl however, still with the expectation of winning a UFL championship. As the team continues to prepare for the upcoming season, the team has filled its final roster spot for the upcoming season.

Returning to the Battlehawks for his 4th season with the team, and his 8th season in professional football, St. Louis is bringing back Interior Defensive Lineman Freedom Akinmoladun to compete with the team. Akinmoladun who is going into his age 30 season, bring 47 games of professional football experience (playoffs included), including five seasons in spring football.

Akinmoladun began his career in 2019 as a UDFA out of Nebraska spending time with the Giants, Bengals, Titans, and Jets, before joining the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL, enroute to a championship game appearance in 2022. Akinmoladun has been with the Battlehawks since 2023, providing depth as a rotational piece while starting several games per season since joining St. Louis. In his spring football career, the Missouri native has totaled 75 tackles and 5.0 sacks between the Stars and the Battlehawks.

St. Louis’ roster sits at 64 with training less than a week away. Akinmoladun will now compete with a new group fo players such as Michael Dwumfour, Neil Farrell, Nesta Jade Silvera, Carlos Davis, Taylor Stallworth, and Daniel Morrison in hopes of continuing his career. Training camp for the Battlehawks and the UFL begins on February 23rd, with St. Louis opening their season against the D.C. Defenders March 28th.
