As the 2026 UFL training camp begins the Birmingham Stallions will be without one of their quarterbacks for a couple days. Quarterback Taylor Elgersma will be throwing for the prospects at the 2026 NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis.
Elgersma has been a hot-topic item regarding his status moving forward in his professional career. With his recent stint with the Packers, many Elgersma fans believed he’d make his way to his native country in the CFL. Elgersma was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with many believing he’d become the heir-apparent to Zach Collaros. Despite several NFL workouts, Elgersma still is chasing his NFL dream, not paying much attention to any CFL opportunities.
Elgersma throwing at the NFL combine isn’t much of a shock and has been very common among spring league quarterbacks. In 2023, Kurt Benkert (Brahmas), and Carson Strong (Michigan Panthers) threw at the NFL combine, with his teammate Matt Corral throwing at the combine in 2025. Now Elgersma will get an opportunity to showcase his ability in front of NFL personnel departments, along with former 2nd round draft pick Kyle Trask.
The NFL scouting combine is scheduled from February 23rd to March 2nd, with UFL training camp beginning February 23rd as well. The Birmingham Stallions will open the 2026 season on March 27th against the Louisville Kings in hopes of winning their 4th championship in franchise history.

Elgersma has NOT signed a contract with the Stallions. Apparently there are issues for Canadian players who try to obtain a work visa to play in the UFL. Elgersma should not be listed on the Birmingham roster since he has not in fact signed with them.
