After bringing back longtime Battlehawk Freedom Akinmoladun, St. Louis has continued to retool their roster as players begin to report to training camp. With players beginning to “check in”, the team announced the release of two players and the addition of one.
Players Released:
Veteran Spring Football wide receiver Gary Jennings was released by St. Louis after reuniting with his 2023 wide receivers coach Ricky Proehl. Jennings was a 4th round pick out of West Viriginia in 2019, spending parts of four seasons in the NFL before joining the Battlehawks in 2023. He’s spent time with the Stallions in 2024 before returning to St. Louis this past season. He’s totaled 18 receptions for 292 yards and 3 touchdowns in his career through 26 games.
The Battlehawks also released Addison West a 2025 UDFA offensive lineman out of Western Michigan, who was claimed by St. Louis in the UFL Draft. West spent training camp with the Miami Dolphins before his release at the end of camp. The Western Michigan alum was expected to make a push for a starting position after earning All-American honors in 2024.
Players Signed:
With the release of West, the Battlehawks signed offensive lineman Christophe Atkinson out of Ohio. Atkinson was a multi-year starter for Ohio, eventually earning a contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. Atkinson recently signed with the San Diego Strike Force of the IFL however has opted to join the Battlehawks.
With the recent release of Jennings and West, along with the signing of Atkinson along with quarterback Michael Pratt opting out of the league, the Battlehawks roster currently sits at 62. UFL rosters should continue to be retooled as players begin their on-boarding process which includes, testing and medicals moving forward. UFL camp officially begins on February 23rd, with the Battlehawks first game against the D.C. Defenders on March 28th.
