The UFL has seen its biggest turnover of Quarterback play even dating back between the merger in 2024. With 12 new quarterbacks on UFL rosters, the UFL saw three quarterbacks retire (Danny Etling, Alex McGough, and Holton Ahlers), while the league opted to move on from 17 different quarterbacks that were rostered on UFL teams last season. After seeing three quarterbacks (Max Duggan, Bryce Perkins, and EJ Perry) opt for CFL opportunities, NFL veterans Dresser Winn and Anthony Brown Jr. were both announced to be signing with the Montreal Alouettes on Monday afternoon.
Dresser Winn and Anthony Brown both played plenty in the 2025 UFL season, both starting games for the Showboats and Roughnecks respectively. Winn played well enough to earn a win over the Birmingham Stallions enroute to UFL Player of the Week honors. Winn also earned a contract with the LA Rams being released during final cuts. His contract with the Alouettes is his second CFL opportunity as the UT-Martin alum played with the Edmonton Elks in 2023.
Brown was considered a disappointment by UFL fans as the Oregon alum brought regular season NFL experience to a CJ Johnson led Roughnecks team. Brown would eventually be benched in favor of Nolan Henderson and Jalan McClendon, appearing in three games throwing for 241 yards and 1 touchdown to 3 INTs.
The Alouettes currently roster eight quarterbacks including spring football alums like E.J. Perry, Shea Patterson, James Morgan, and McLeod Bethel Thompson. The CFL begins training camp during May, in which Brown and Winn will look to extend their careers.

Does anyone fear the quality of quarterback play in the UFL this season? Expected more DTR type signings. I believe the lack of immediate success from Mond and Brown has scared some NFL fringe guys away. (Fromm and Eason)

Fromm retired. But yes, the QBs who’ve come have done more harm than good for their careers.
