The pro football journey of Liam Fornadel continues as the New York Jets are down one of their star offensive linemen. After the news of Alijah Vera-Tucker tearing his triceps and ending his 2025 season, the Jets opted to bring back Fornadel on their practice squad.
Fornadel has been trying to find consistency since coming into professional football in 2022 as a UDFA. Fornadel would be passed over by NFL teams, signing with the CFL’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers spending a month with the team before his release in October of 2022. Fornadel would get drafted by the D.C. Defenders putting together an All-XFL season in 2023, and then starting all 10 games in 2024 for D.C.
Fornadel’s 2024 season in the UFL would allow him to earn an opportunity to sign his first NFL contract with the New England Patriots making the team’s practice squad, before getting released after New England’s week 15 loss to the Cardinals. Fornadel returned to Defenders after week one of the UFL season helping D.C. win the 2025 UFL championship. After spending 2025 with the Jets in camp, and getting released during final cuts, Fornadel finds himself back in the NFL.

Additional UFL Notes:
Perrion Winfrey has been placed on injured reserve due to a back injury, which will sideline him from game action until at least October 12 when Dallas faces Carolina. Bradlee Anae appears to not be returning to the UFL and is joining the B.C. Lions of the CFL. Anae spent 2025 with the Birmingham Stallions earning a contract with the San Francisco 49ers, before being waived with an injury settlement.
Kyon Barrs, and Gunner Britton, both worked out for the Carolina Panther Monday September 8th. Both had spent 2025 with NFL teams and failed to make their respective rosters or practice squads. Nick Whiteside worked out for the Browns on Friday September 5th. Zach Banner of the Houston Roughnecks also received a workout with the Chicago Bears becoming the 85th UFL player to receive an NFL workout. Kenny Willekes who was recently released by the Steelers, worked out for the Saints on 9/1, who opted to sign Garrett Nelson instead.
