
While many were disappointed to cease the Michigan Panthers ceasing operations, the news continued with the sudden news that Panthers Head Coach Mike Nolan would not be returning to any of 2026 UFL franchises. One rising star on his staff Defensive Coordinator Collin Bauer was among those in the crossfire also finding himself unemployed in the time being.
After a complete rebuild of his 2026 staff, Jets Head Coach Aaron Glenn announced several new members of the staff including Bauer. After three seasons with the Michigan Panthers Bauer, was hired by the Glenn’s New York Jeys and will be serving as a defensive assistant on his staff.
Coming off two consecutive playoff appearances Bauer led a Panthers defensive unit that was consistently ranked in the top echelon of the league. Bauer’s unit Six All-UFL selections, including Breeland Speaks earning a Defensive Player of the Year honor. Bauer also saw seven players earn NFL opportunities as Defensive Coordinator as well. In 2023 as the Panthers Defensive Line coach he mentored Breeland Speaks who earn All-USFL honors, while leading the league in Sacks, in addition to Levi Bell earning a contract with the Indianapolis Colts.
Bauer’s opportunity with the Jets is his first time working with an NFL team. Previously he’s worked as a student assistant at Towson from 2010 until graduating in 2013, with stops at the Citadel (2013), Maryland (14-15), Rutgers (16-17), and returning to Towson from 2018 to 2022.
