Another Defensive Lineman is joining an NFL squad, and this time it’s Jacob Sykes. After seeing Garrett Nelson latch on with the Saints, the Brahmas are now seeing Sykes return to the Eagles on their practice squad. Sykes becomes 5th Brahma to join an NFL roster during the 2025 regular season, joining Nelson, John Parker Romo (Atlanta), Kohl Leveao (Jets), and Rex Sunahara (Browns).

Sykes spent training camp with the Eagles being released during final cuts. He spent the last two seasons in the UFL with the Brahmas totaling 32 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Originally a UDFA out of UCLA, Sykes began his college career at Harvard before transferring to UCLA. He spent 2023, with the Seattle Seahawks before getting waived, and now reunites with his old Defensive Coordinator, Clint Hurtt who is now the Defensive Line Coach for the Eagles.

Other UFL Notes:

Former AAF Commanders QB Logan Woodside has resigned with the Pittsburgh Steelers on their practice squad. The Steelers placed Skylar Thompson on injured reserve. Former Pittsburgh Mauler Defensive Lineman Jeremiah Pharms has resigned with the Patriots on their practice squad, now going into his 4th years with New England. Stallions Defensive End (EDGE), Ronnie Perkins was released by the Falcons spending one week with the team, as the corresponding move to the signing of John Parker Romo.

Currently, 59 spring football players have earned a paycheck from NFL teams during the 2025 regular season. Spring football players are currently on pace to earn about 52 million dollars (Graham Gano 2009-2012 UFL included), which is about 500k more than 2024.
