Though transactions have certainly slowed down, several players have taken to social media to announce their intentions for their futures in football. Since the 2025 UFL season began 22 spring football players have confirmed their retirements via the league or social media pages.

Bryce Torneaden-Michigan Panthers

Torneaden filed his retirement papers back in August via the league. Torneaden came out of the University of Kansas in 2020, joining the Spring League with the Sea Lions in 2021. He’d get drafted by the Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL in 2022, earning All-USFL honors. He’d spend 2023 with the Maulers before joining the Michigan Panthers via the dispersal draft in 2024 spending the next two seasons with the team, before an injury ended his season. Torneaden finishes his career with 170 tackles, 4.0 sacks, and an interception along with two championship appearances in his career.

Jeff McCulloch-Memphis Showboats

After not playing in 2025, McCulloch has opted to retire. McCulloch came out of the University of Texas in 2020, playing in the Spring League in 2021. He spend 2022 with the Tampa Bay Bandits, staying with the franchise in 2023 during their rebrand to the Memphis Showboats for 2023 and 2024. After originally, being resigned for 2025, newly hired GM Jim Monos released McCulloch for the upcoming season. McCulloch totaled 31 tackles and 4.0 in his spring football career.

Jarrett Horst-Michigan Panthers

Horst was the Panthers number one overall in the 2023 USFL college draft. After hanging around several NFL teams in 2023, Horst would join the Panthers for the 2024 starting 5 games (appearing in 8). He’d be waived during training camp due to injury signing with the Montreal Alouettes for the 2025 season, however, would be placed on the suspended list.

Juwan Manigo- Arlington Renegades

Manigo was one of the UFL’s most dynamic returners in 2024, however would be released during the 2025 UFL training camp. Manigo would attempt to latch on with the B.C. Lions of the CFL upon his release however would be released prior to the regular season.
