Notable Player Moves
John Ross, WR – Added by Birmingham Stallions
Ross was a first-round pick (9th overall) by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Washington. He set the NFL Combine record with a 4.22-second 40-yard dash, breaking Chris Johnson’s previous mark of 4.24 seconds. The record stood for seven years until Xavier Worthy ran a 4.21 in 2024.
Ross signed with Birmingham on February 4, 2026. The move reunited him with head coach A.J. McCarron, his former teammate with the Bengals.
At Washington, Ross caught 81 passes for 1,150 yards and 17 touchdowns in his final season in 2016. He also returned kicks and led the Huskies to the College Football Playoff. Ross missed the 2015 season after tearing his ACL.
Ross played 27 games in four seasons with the Bengals. His best stretch came in the first two weeks of the 2019 season when he recorded 11 catches for 270 yards and three touchdowns. He finished the 2019 campaign with 28 receptions for 506 yards and three touchdowns before a shoulder injury ended his season.
The Bengals declined Ross’s fifth-year option, and he signed with the New York Giants in 2021. Ross also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024. He finished his NFL career with 63 receptions for 963 yards and 11 touchdowns over 38 games.
Jake Camarda, P – Added by Columbus Aviators
Camarda was a fourth-round pick (133rd overall) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Georgia. He was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2020 and earned First-Team All-SEC honors in 2020 and 2021.
Camarda left Georgia as the program’s all-time leader in yards per punt at 45.7. He hit 67 punts of 50-plus yards and 17 punts of 60-plus yards during his college career. Camarda also served as Georgia’s kickoff specialist, recording 71 touchbacks on 102 kickoffs in 2021.
In three NFL seasons with the Buccaneers, Camarda totaled 169 punts for 8,302 yards with a 49.1-yard average. He recorded 53 punts inside the 20-yard line and hit a 74-yard punt three times during his career. Camarda was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week twice. He ran a 4.56-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
Rodrigo Blankenship, K – Removed by Birmingham Stallions
Blankenship won the Lou Groza Award in 2019 as the nation’s top kicker at Georgia. He signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and won the starting job.
Blankenship converted 32 of 37 field goal attempts as a rookie and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. He kicked a 39-yard game-winning field goal in overtime against the Green Bay Packers in Week 11 of the 2020 season, earning AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
At Georgia, Blankenship set the SEC record with 198 consecutive extra points and kicked a 55-yard field goal in the 2018 Rose Bowl against Oklahoma, the longest in Rose Bowl history. He was a perfect 200-for-200 on extra points in college.
Blankenship converted 47 of 56 field goal attempts in his NFL career with the Colts, Cardinals, and Buccaneers. He joined the St. Louis Battlehawks for the 2025 UFL season and converted 21 of 22 field goal attempts (95.5%), including a long of 56 yards and a 5-for-6 mark from 50-plus yards. His departure from Birmingham came after he missed a deadline to commit to the Stallions, opting instead to pursue potential NFL opportunities.
Bryce Hall, CB – Added by Louisville Kings
Hall was a fifth-round pick (158th overall) by the New York Jets in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Virginia. He was projected as a first-round pick before suffering an ankle injury in October 2019 that required surgery and ended his senior season.
At Virginia, Hall led the FBS with 22 pass breakups in 2018 and earned Second-Team All-America honors. He recorded five interceptions and 44 pass deflections over his college career. According to Pro Football Focus, Hall forced an incompletion on 24.8 percent of targets from 2017-2019, the second-highest rate in college football.
Hall started 26 games over 40 career NFL appearances with the Jets. He recorded his first career interception in Week 15 of his rookie season against Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams. Hall signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 2024 but suffered an ankle injury in Week 1 and was placed on injured reserve.
Erik Ezukanma, WR – Added by DC Defenders
Ezukanma was a fourth-round pick (125th overall) by the Miami Dolphins in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Texas Tech. He caught 138 passes for 2,165 yards and 15 touchdowns over three seasons with the Red Raiders.
At Texas Tech, Ezukanma was a two-time All-Big 12 selection and became the first Red Raider receiver since Wayne Walker (1985-87) to lead the team in receiving for three consecutive seasons. He earned first-team All-Big 12 honors in 2020 after recording 46 catches for 748 yards and six touchdowns. Ezukanma measured 6-2, 209 pounds with 33.5-inch arms at the NFL Combine.
Ezukanma declared for the draft after his junior season in December 2021. He spent time with the Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL.
